Information
Janovice Castle is a historical monument with a rich and varied past. Originally a Gothic fortress from the 13th century, built by Peter of Žerotín. In the 16th century, the fortress was rebuilt into a Renaissance castle by the educated Styrian nobleman Ferdinand Hoffmann of Grünbüchl, who was a personal friend of Emperor Rudolf II.
In the 17th century, the castle was expanded in the Baroque style and became the permanent residence of the Harrach family, who lived here until the beginning of the 20th century. After World War II and many changes in ownership, the castle unfortunately fell into oblivion and fell into disrepair for many years.
