The Beskydy Museum Frýdek-Místek is located in the Frýdek Castle, which rises on a high promontory above the Ostravicá River. Originally a Gothic castle, built after 1327, it was gradually rebuilt into a Renaissance and later Baroque chateau. Today, the castle is the seat of a museum that manages extensive collections focused on the history, nature and culture of the Beskydy Mountains.
