In the mid-11th century, the Rotunda of St. Nicholas and St. Wenceslas, one of the most valuable Christian monuments in Poland.

Later, the Castle Hill was the seat of the Piasts of Cieszyn, who built a massive Gothic castle here. Although the castle was damaged during the Thirty Years' War and gradually fell into disrepair, it remained a center of power until the 19th century, when the Habsburgs rebuilt it into a classicist palace with a beautiful romantic park, which visitors can admire today.
