Satina Waterfalls

The Satiny Waterfalls, hidden in the heart of the Beskydy Mountains under Lysá hora, are one of the most picturesque natural monuments of the region. They are located about an hour's drive from our wellness hotel Pod Kyčmolem, which is the ideal distance for a pleasant trip during your stay. A visit to these waterfalls offers a unique experience of wild nature, where you can admire the beauty of the cascades falling over rocky thresholds and enjoy a peaceful environment far from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Information
The Satiny Waterfalls are located on the upper reaches of the Satina stream at an altitude of 510–570 meters and cover an area of 8.76 hectares. This natural monument extends from the bridge under the Petr Bezruč Hotel to the cottage area in Malenovice. It is one of the longest rock beds in the Czech part of the Carpathians and an excellent example of flysch rocks. Within this area, you will find an unusual concentration of geological and geomorphological phenomena that create a unique natural scenery. The gorge is about 100 meters long and is made up of loose blocks of coarsely bench-shaped sandstones covered with rubble. The main waterfall, which is 2 meters high, is located at the bottom of a deep gorge between rock blocks and offers a beautiful spectacle.
Activities and experiences
The Satiny Waterfalls are a popular destination for easy hiking, ideal for families with children, couples and individuals. The Yellow Bear Trail and the Black Stork Trail offer tourists the opportunity to walk through beautiful nature, where they can enjoy not only the beauty of the waterfalls, but also the peace of the forest. For nature lovers, it is an ideal place for photography and relaxation. In the summer months, the gorge around the waterfalls is a pleasant refuge from the heat, and the cold water of the stream offers refreshment. Not far from the waterfalls is a restaurant in the Rajská bouda hotel, where you can enjoy a delicious lunch after the trip. Our guests can also visit the restaurant and brewery at Hotel Pod Kyčmolem, which offers excellent regional specialties and local beers.
Practical information for visitors
The Satiny Waterfalls can be reached from the Pod Kyčmolem Hotel by car in approximately an hour. You can park at the Na Konečná u Rajské boudy parking lot, where you pay 50 CZK for a whole day of parking. A yellow hiking trail leads from the parking lot, which takes you directly to the waterfalls. The path is short, less than 3 km there and back. We recommend sturdy shoes for the trip, as the path to the waterfalls leads down stone steps from a steep hill. The place is freely accessible all year round and the visit takes approximately one hour. In hot weather, don't forget water and a raincoat if you plan to stay in the area for a longer period.
