The Švihov water reservoir was built in 1965–1975 on the Želivka River. Its earthen dam is 58 meters high and the length of the dam crown is 860 meters. The water reservoir has a total backwater length of 38 km and a water volume of over 309 million cubic meters. The reservoir also includes an extensive system for transporting water to Prague, which includes a 50 km long pressure tunnel feeder.
