More detailed information about the place
The Wiretapping Memorial was created as a reminder of spying and surveillance under past regimes. Bretschneider's Ear, named after the secret policeman from Hašek's novel, is the first of the reliefs created by young stonemasons under the guidance of artist Radomír Dvořák. The Mouth of Truth and Golden Eyes were subsequently added, creating a complete series that symbolizes the importance of freedom of expression and open communication.
